Biography
Boris Vadimovich Sokolov, born in 1957 in Moscow.

Graduated the Geographic Department of the Moscow State University as Economic Geographer. Ph. D. in History, Doctor habilitatus in Philology.
In September 2008 was resigned as Professor of Social Anthropology of Russian State Social University (Moscow) under demand of President Medvedev’s Administration after publishing an article about Russian-Georgian War.

Author of more than 150 books, including some collections of works on the History of World War II and a book about the losses in the Second World War’ and biographies of Mikhail Bulgakov and Vladimir Sorokin, Stalin, marshals Tukhachevskij, Zhukov, Rokossovskij, Budennyj, Malinowskij, Generals Baron Petr Vrangel and Baron Roman Ungern, Beria, Leonid Brezhnev, Molotov, History of the both World Wars, history of fighting Russian and Polish intelligence in 1920s, etc.

Articles and reports in history, philology, political science, economics in Russian, English, Italian, German, Polish and Japanese. Brezhnev’s Biography translated into Latvian and Estonian. Beria’s biography translated into Latvian and Estonian. Book “Stalin, Bulgakov, Meyerhold” translated into Japanese. Mikhail Bulgakov’s encyclopedia translated into Polish. History of Soviet-Finnish War, biographies of Molotov, Baron von Ungern, Armand and Krupskaja, Vasilij Stalin, Molotov, Brezhnev translated into Estonian. The Book “Secrets of World War II”, “Hunting for Stalin and Hitler”, “Occupation: Truth and Myth” and “Rokossowskij” translated into Polish. An original book “The Role of the Soviet Union in the Second World War: A Re-Examination” published the UK. The English translation of “Rokossowskij” and “Malinowskij” is published in the UK.

He is a prominent specialist in the problems of military losses, military economy and strategy. His main book about the losses of Russia and the USSR in the wars of XX-XXI Centuries is under translation into Polish. His book “The Second World War (Eatern Frot) is under translation into Polish, Czech and Lithuanian and is translated into English.

He lectured in Latvia, Estonia and Denmark.
The author of the Ukrainian newspaper “Den”.
Visiting professor of the Academy of Military Art, Warsaw and Studium Europy Wschodniej, Wydział Orientalistyczny of Warsaw University in 2017.

Member of the Association “Svobodnoe slovo” (Free word) and member of Moscow PEN. His books and articles are translated into Chinese, Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Serb-Croatian, Latvian, Estonian.
